F.A.Q.

Tell me about Fip Fok.

Our style puts spikes on Folk, it’s Hip Hop everyone can enjoy, and it’s Pop without all the plastic. You really have to hear it.

Your main influences?

Our main influences have been each other – we all bring something quite unique to the sound, and we all want to make them work together. There is something quite unifying about bringing together diverse styles like Hip Hop and Folk, and there’s quite a rough and ready feel to it. Which isn’t very surprising, we all met on the Canterbury busking circuit.

Who’s in the band?

Tom Twyman (guitar & vocals), Dulcima Showan (violin & vocals), Jamie Smith (beatbox), Micah Hyson (double bass) and Rob Wicks (banjo).

Where can I hear your stuff?

You can find us all over Canterbury and the South East, often in a music pub or club, but we want to tour the UK and we’ve been doing more in London and Brighton recently. We still busk when we can, but looking to play bigger venues too. We’re on iTunes, Spotify and YouTube, so look us up!

Tell me about your success so far.

We’re astounded by the support we’ve had so far, and how well our music has been received. We’ve got an EP out, and a few more releases right around the corner. Winning UK Live & Unsigned 2012 was really encouraging, and that got us into a few festivals too. We’ve been played on BBC Radio, but we want to keep up the momentum.

What does the future hold?

We want our music out there, all over the UK. CoCo and the Butterfields is all about creativity, so we love working on videos and animations too, expect more of those! As an independent artist, we just want to see how far we can go.

Would you be up for an interview?

YES! We are constantly looking to spread the word about our band and our music, so we’d love to talk to you; just email us at: info[at]cocoandthebutterfields.com.
